How Are Prosthetic Treatments Performed?
There are 5 different types of prosthesis applied in prosthesis treatment. These are in the form of implant supported dentures, removable dentures, precision retained dentures, porcelain crowns and bridges, partial dentures with metal skeletons.
Implant supported prostheses; These are prostheses that are placed on the implants and supported by the implants after the implant treatment is applied. This type of prosthesis is applied to people who have no teeth but have sufficient bone level.
Removable denture teeth; It is a type of prosthetic tooth that the patient can easily remove at any time. It can be used easily in the absence of one or more teeth.
Porcelain crown and bridge application is a type of prosthesis applied in case of missing a few teeth in the mouth. Prosthetic teeth prepared as a result of cutting support teeth are adhered to natural teeth. This type of prosthesis is fixed and cannot be removed by the patient.
Prostheses with snaps or precision attachments are used by placing the sockets prepared in the teeth. It is used when there are many missing teeth and the patient cannot be treated with fixed prostheses. It can be easily put on and taken off thanks to the snaps.
Partial teeth with metal skeletons are preferred in cases where fixed bridge or implant treatment cannot be applied. It is attached to the existing teeth in the mouth with the help of a hook and can be attached and removed.
Healing Process After Prosthetic Treatment
After the prosthesis treatment, pain and sensitivity may occur in the teeth and jaw. Especially in patients who use dentures for the first time, pain complaints occur in the gums, which we call bumps. The affected areas are checked by the physician and necessary corrections are made. In patients with fixed prosthesis such as crowns and bridges, sensitivity may occur in some cases, since teeth are cut. During this time, you can get rid of the pain in a short time by using painkillers.
What Should Be Considered After Prosthesis Treatment?
Recommendation for use and care: After the treatment of removable dentures, patients should remove the dentures at night and rest their tissues.
Prostheses should be thoroughly brushed with soap after each meal and washed under running water. Toothpaste should not be applied to dentures. Additional cleaning and maintenance can be done with weekly cleaning tablets.
Fixed crown and bridge prostheses should be brushed with a toothbrush and paste. Under the bridge body, it should be thoroughly cleaned with dental floss and an interface brush.
